CHRISTOPHER OLENEK, D.O. | Board Certified
APOLLO HEALTH & WELLNESS
URGENT CARE AND PREVENTIVE HEALTH SPECIALIST
Dr. Christopher Olenek is board certified in Family Medicine and has been treating patients in the community of Vero Beach for over 20 years. He is known by his peers to be a strong advocate for his patients and is highly regarded as a diagnostician and uncovering the cause of symptoms and disease so he may render the best and most appropriate treatment.
Dr. Olenek was born and raised in New York City and Northern New Jersey where he obtained a degree in business and started his career working in the financial industry, in Manhattan, for 5 years. He realized that he did not find a passion in sales and pursued Medical School in 1990. While taking his pre-requisite courses as a post baccalaureate he was introduced by a family friend to Dr. Alan Leavy, the team doctor for the New York Giants, who recommended Dr. Olenek to pursue osteopathic medicine. In 1993 he attended medical school at The New York School of Osteopathic Medicine and did his internship at Long Beach Medical Center/ Mount Sinai and his residency training at Columbia Presbyterian.
In 1999 Dr. Olenek moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL to obtain additional sports medicine training with the team physician for the Miami Dolphins and other orthopedists. He completed his Family Medicine residency training concurrently at Broward General In Fort Lauderdale.
Dr. Olenek worked as an emergency room physician for 5 years in South Florida. In 2005, his uncle who resided in Vero Beach invited Dr. Olenek to visit for the weekend. Upon first sight, Dr. Olenek knew this was the location he wanted to settle down and start his private medical practice with his vast array of life experiences.
While working in the Emergency Room was invigorating and rewarding, Dr. Olenek was always concerned about each patient's status and outcome once admitted. This prompted him to open his private practice of Urgent Care and Family Medicine to ensure each patient was followed and retained as primary patients.
Having an Italian background, Dr. Olenek enjoys gourmet meals and spending time in Italy attending cooking classes, wine harvesting and truffle season. Dr. Olenek loves animals and is a proud owner of several dogs that he rescued from the humane society including English Bulldogs, Shih Tzus and Black Labs.
Dr. Olenek understands with each patient encounter that sometimes traditional western medicine isn’t always the most effective method for patients with chronic health conditions. With his osteopathic background, his mindset is to treat the patient as a whole and get to the root cause of each illness. Dr. Olenek has traveled the country and met with many other like minded providers and incorporates different modalities into his practice to help patients improve their longevity and quality of life. His principle is for each and every patient to not just survive but rather thrive.
